1. Joe Frazier vs. Muhammad Ali ( aka “The Fight of the Century”)
On March 8, 1971, at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Frazier and Ali met for the first time. It was a highly anticipated match since both Frazier and Ali were undefeated. Frazier won by unanimous decision, handing Ali the first loss of his professional career.
2. Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Thomas Hearns ( aka “The War”)
On September 16, 1981, two of boxing’s greatest welterweights met in the ring for the first time. Leonard won by TKO in the 14th round, regaining his WBC title.
3. Mike Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield ( aka “The Bite Fight”)
On November 9, 1996, Tyson and Holyfield met for the heavyweight title for the second time. In the third round of the fight, Tyson infamously bit Holyfield’s ear, leading to his disqualification.
